Hawaii family reunion cruises are the ideal way to reunite! We had our reunion in Hawaii and decided to travel to each island. This would have been pretty darn expensive if we had to pay for individual resorts on each island, especially with a group of 20-30. Many relatives were flying in from different areas of the country too…

So we decided to check out Norwegian Cruise Line’s cruise offer that they have that cruises to each Hawaiian island. This option made for a super affordable trip for each family member. We all flew into Oahu and were able to spend a few days there. We even did some skydiving!!! And then the cruise launched at the end of the weekend.

My favorite spot on the cruise had to be Kauai where we did zip lining and checked out some amazing beaches. The trip was amazing for each of us in so many ways, so I just wanted to share this idea with you in case you’re looking for an ideal place to go with your family on a family reunion. Holiday Travel For The Family – How To Protect Your Ride

With the holidays coming up just around the corner, we were recently reminded of why it’s important to remember to keep our vehicles tuned up before hitting the roads to see loved ones. While we are major cruise and all-inclusive experts, we are also advocates of road trips and any chance for the family to get together.

Our recent Thanksgiving get together got very interesting when we were on the road to a miniature golf spot that we enjoy going to as a family. All was running smoothly and the group was looking forward to a fun 18 holes of mini golf, when our Ford Explorer broke down during the drive. The exhaust headers or part of the magnaflow exhaust system backfired with a huge boom. She’s a pretty solid ride that we’ve had for the past 7 years, perfect for road trips due to the size of the interior. It came equipped with custom fitting all weather floor mats, some performance koni shocks, a custom license plate frame, a hard cover for storage, My brother was even able to convince me into investing in some performance improvements since we like to go snowboarding during the winter up at Mammoth… so I was able to install some koni shocks, Hawk brake pads and Bully Dog chips to rev up the engine capacity.

When we got home after a long ride with everyone in the tow truck back to the house (which was an interesting site to see), we recognized on the garage flooring that there was a large stain from an oil leak that we hadn’t noticed.

So long story short, before hitting the road this holiday season on your next family vacation, be sure to check on your vehicle’s vital signs. It could really save you from a lot of frustrations.

Summer Pricing Deals Leading to a Vacation Upswing

Very interesting Adage post on the vacationing upswing so far this year:

“Now that the economy is picking up, consumers are packing up to take advantage of summer pricing deals being offered by the $600 billion U.S. travel industry. Resorts, theme and amusement parks are expecting higher attendance, cruise-line bookings are on the rise, and the car-rental industry is gearing up for a busy summer. The notion that it’s unseemly to go on holiday when the economy is in the doldrums is so last year.

BLAST FROM THE PAST: For Colonial Williamsburg, more people traveling by car is a good thing.

“Nobody wanted to be a showoff or seem ostentatious by traveling during a recession,” said Pauline Frommer, daughter of legendary travel guidebook guru Arthur Frommer and editor of The Pauline Frommer Guides. “This year, all that pent-up demand is back.”

In a recent study by Travelocity, 49% of respondents said they planned to travel more this summer than in summer 2009.

“We’re getting a sense of the increase in summer travelers just by looking at our own site traffic,” said Darren Frei, online editorial director for Sherman’s Travel. “Our traffic generally increases a little every April and May as people research summer vacation. This year, it was up 25% in April (over last April). That trip that people put off last year? They’re taking it this year.”
