Puerto Plata a hot spot in the Dominican Republic

I just got back from a four day trip to the Dominican Republic to check out a couple properties. There are beautiful beaches in Puerto Plata. Booking through a tour company such as Apple Vacations helpes tremendously as you know you’ll get a rating on the quality of each property, activities available, dining, tours, etc. Ratings are updated yearly, so you know at the point of booking a package what to expect from each property listed for each destination.

All inclusive vacations are incredibly popular and offer the best value right now, especially in todays economic climate. It’s good to know what an entire package may end up costing you with land, airfare, meals and alcohol added together. And of course the beautiful beaches are included as well, with temperatures ranging from 75-90 degrees in the winter and 89-95 degrees in summer.

Puerto Playa offers three activities one would not expect at first glance.

January through March , Samana Bay is one of the best places for whale watching in the world. Humpback whales have been spoted near Samana for centuries.

About 30 minutes from Puerto Playa is the resort community of Cabarate.  This quaint resort is home to world championship windsurfing events and is very popular for water sports enthusiasts.

Ocean World in Puerto Plata is the world’s first interactive ocean park. This place is not a large aquarium where you look at fish and sharks. No, you actually get inside and swim with them. And by interactive, that means you swim with all the seas animals: sea lions, dolphins, stingrays, sharks, and tropical fish.
